When you can’t go out as much anymore due to the pandemic and also happen to have infant twins, sometimes you need to bring the party to you. So we created the “Sommerfeld Family Snow Ball”. We had so much fun last year with a stay-at-home dance party that we decided to bring it back as an annual tradition. The styles of dance and clever titles will change each year, but the fun spirit won’t!

Early in the evening, it was games and festivities using every imaginable “snowball” from mini marshmallows to cotton balls to ping pong balls. Even the little ones were able to get in on the action. And then when the kids went to bed, Bekah and I cleared out the dining room to begin the official “Snow Ball”. We danced and danced across the room and ate and ate from the clever smorgasbord that feature a cheese “snow” ball, Hostess Sno Balls, and even a Snowball Cocktail.

It was a fun evening. And it made us realize that maybe dance is a good way to summarize our lives right now. Sometimes you’re got great connection but are just klutzy and keep tripping the other up unintentionally. Other times, you’re both exhausted and just trying to literally stay on your feet. Sometimes you’re spinning across the floor and laughing the night away. And then there are the times it feels like you’re not even hearing the same music nor trying to do the same dance. Each day (and sometimes each hour) it feels like it can change which scenario we find ourselves in. But, regardless of how that dance may go or what it might look like, we’re both glad we’ve found the one that we get to keep dancing with the rest of our lives.
