“A Merry Mancini” & Holiday Martinis
Today debuted one of six brand new themes that will be kicked off in 2023! All six of the themes are planned to be brought back in some format once each year going forward. So be on the lookout! The “General Themes” filters will help you keep track of them across all the years!
The theme for this one isn’t the most catchy, but it’s what we are calling “Rhyming Hygge”. Coming out of last year, we wanted a few more “simple” nights. More along the lines of what we intended when we first began this in 2020, like making a gingerbread house and listening to Frank Sinatra. Or watching a movie with hot cocoa. So, Ben came up with the idea of taking two individual elements of Christmas and pairing them together in a whimsical way. But to make it a bit more fun, we’re pairing up elements that rhyme in a theme called “Rhyming Hygge”.
And that is what led to tonight being a celebration of ‘“A Merry Mancini” & Holiday Martinis”. Henry Mancini was one of the greatest composers in music history, especially film history. He wrote the scores for “The Pink Panther” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (including “Moon River”) and accumulated four Academy Awards and twenty Grammy Awards for his work. Conveniently, he also happens to have a fantastic Christmas album. So we found a used version of his Christmas album on vinyl, put it on the record player, shook up a couple of holiday martinis, and settled in for an easy evening of sipping and serenades. Even the kids got in on it with a miniatureized kid-friendly versions of the panna cotta that they thoroughly savored as their dessert for the day.
