Today we brought together some of our good friends and biggest 25 Dates of Christmas fans for a cheery Christmas Party. Well… cheery aside from the murder associated with it. Yes, we pulled off a Ho Ho Homicide Murder Mystery Party! It was complete with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and their Elves and their Reindeer. It was a blast from start to finish and we had so much fun. The food played in so well to the theme as well with criminal and holiday spins on classic party foods.

And this evening was a great way to introduce another theme that will carry forward year after year. And that is… egg nog! The history and exact origin isn’t entirely certain but it has been around since the Revolutionary War and become a holiday classic that has spread around the world in so many variations. We’ll explore those variations in the coming years but this year we stayed very close to home with the legendary Upper Midwest cocktail of the “Tom and Jerry”. The cocktail was created in the 1820s and the biggest differences to traditional egg nog are that the Tom & Jerry is served warm and that it has a whipped silky texture.  It was perfect for this evening as it tends to make rather large batches :)
