Christmas in Wisconsin
And today wraps up our 25 Days of Christmas! As seemed fitting given that we traveled to Ben’s family in Hudson, we celebrated (literally) Christmas in Wisconsin!
It was a full day of opening presents but we tried to tie in as many uniquely Wisconsin elements as we could including herring on crackers for a mid-afternoon snack and Spotted Cow beer cheese soup for dinner. We also incorporated many very German things including Christmas polka playlist, games of hide the Christmas pickle ornament, as well as Aldi stollen for dessert.
We learned about the We Energies cookie book that has been published every year since 1932 and also appreciated the 1960’s era Evergleam aluminum Christmas (or perhaps “kitsch-mas”) tree (which originated in Manitowoc and a recent rare one sold for $10,000).
And then we called it a day to head home and mix-up a brandy slushy and an old-fashioned (Wisconsin style) as we unwound from our full season of Christmas!
Thanks to everyone for joining us during our 25 Dates of Christmas! We hope it inspired you and your families... or at the very least just brought a smile to your face :)
