Christmas Alphabet
And just like that, we’ve reached the end of our 25 Dates of Christmas 2024 adventure! We’re thrilled you joined us on this festive journey. Today, Christmas Eve was all about celebrating the Christmas Alphabet—a perfect opportunity with our three-year-old twins to explore every festive symbol, food, and icon from A to Z. Or in our case, from Advent to Zombies! The song “Christmas Alphabet” was first released in 1954 by the McGuire Sisters and then covered in 1955 by Dickie Valentine. The version by Dickie Valentine went on to become a #1 hit on the UK Singles Chart. Interestingly, it became the first UK Christmas chart topper that is actually about Christmas!
We began the day with “(H)ark the Herald” and enjoyed a (K)ris Kringle for breakfast before diving into the history of (X)Mas. As the day unfolded, we reveled in (P)oinsettias, (M)ittens, (Y)ule Logs, the (N)ORAD Tracker, and (I)ced Cookies. We also cherished moments with the (F)rosty movie and the timeless story from (L)uke 2 about the birth of Jesus. Of course, Christmas Eve dinner wouldn’t be complete without a delicious (R)ib Roast, (W)inter Squash, and a glass of (D)asher & Dancer Pinot Noir. Needless to say, there was a lot happening today—twenty-six things to be exact!
Two iconic traditions marked our day. First, our annual Hot Chocolate from around the world featured Chocolate (Q)uente, a Brazilian hot chocolate made with whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, and a whole bar of chocolate—truly decadent and delightful. Our second tradition was building our own version of the (G)avle Goat, a Swedish fixture known for its tendency to burn down. True to tradition, ours went up in flames 😊
The “Z’ that wrapped up the day was (Z)ombies. It might not seem fitting, but it does if you understand it’s connected to a viewing of “Anna and the Apocalypse”, a cheeky British musical in which zombies threaten the sleepy town of Little Haven - at Christmas, thus forcing Anna and her friends to leverage candy canes and holiday decorations as weapons to fight, slash and sing their way to survival..
And there you have it—another successful 25 Dates of Christmas season in 2024. We hope you enjoyed following along as much as we enjoyed sharing it with you!
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! 🎄
